The brief

What they asked for, and what we did

Our second year with Luther, and the first where we ran all of Nepal. A One Health course needs more than hotels: students had language lessons, hospital days and field visits to fit around five moves across the country.

  1. 01A room for language lessons every morningBooked Hotel Barahi’s enclosed rooftop lounge for four sessions, with an easel and flip chart, and its hall with a projector for talks.
  2. 02Nepal’s health system, up closePlanned the days and transport for hospital placements and visits to four facilities around Pokhara, from a teaching hospital to a village health post.
  3. 03Safe vehicles, and bags that stay dryOne vetted operator for every drive. A bus with under-floor storage for the long roads, never bags on the roof. EV vans in the cities.
  4. 04Flights that don’t break the scheduleMorning Buddha Air flights both ways, a 6:30 AM hotel breakfast so no one flew hungry, and the return put early in the day in case of delays.
  5. 05Two travelers arriving a day earlyTheir own airport pickup and room, then an early 9 AM check-in for everyone else straight off the overnight flight.
  6. 06Lunch on the trailSuraksha packed lunches for the Dhampus hike herself: homemade date-and-nut protein bites, sandwiches, an apple and a banana each.

Behind the scenes

Every booking, signed in writing

Before the group landed, each hotel, driver, guide and operator signed a request list: rooms, times, pickups, and the small things, like two separate beds in every twin room. On the day, nothing depended on someone remembering.
